Romans 16:18 – For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
The promise of personal prophecy always draws a crowd. Many long to hear the “voice of God” and either don’t have confidence in their own prophetic listening skills (with proper training we can all hear prophetically without using a prophet) or are simply seeking confirmation about something they think God spoke to their heart. There is absolutely nothing wrong in comparing a prophecy of one prophet with that of another prophet! If a “prophet” is offended because you inquired of another prophet regarding a prophecy they gave you, that prophet wasn’t sent by God! (1Cor 14:32 And the spirits of prophets are subject to the prophets). Believers are sincerely hungry to hear God’s voice. And that, unfortunately, is one of the reasons prophetic ministry is so abused in this hour. It’s one of the reasons anyone who claims to be a prophet can so easily fleece some sheep or offer false prophecies that lead people away from God instead of closer to Him!
The gift of prophecy as explained in 1 Corinthians 14:3: “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.” Based on this scripture alone, ANY “prophet” that prophesies “you will die” after offending him/her is a FALSE PROPHET. The truth of the matter is WE WILL ALL DIE a physical death one day, but those in Christ will escape the second death (Rev 2:11)(Rev 20:6), but God says the prophet which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak [even if it’s true], or which he speaks in the name of other gods [this also means speaking through the power/influence of another god and familiar spirits], that prophet shall die. This means, the false prophet is spiritually dead; cursed by God, AND WILL NOT ESCAPE THE SECOND DEATH.
False prophets are deceitful workers who pretend to be apostles of Jesus. They are like Satan himself, who pretends to be an angel of light 2 Corinthians 11:13-15. God will punish those who knowingly follow false prophets [Jer 14:16] , so have NO association with a false prophet (unless you’re ministering Christ and repentance to him/her) and DON’T FEAR THEM but EXPOSE THEM! (Ephesians 5:11) (Ephesians 5:6-13).
